I really enjoyed reading Ralph Ellison for those reasons. He focuses on race and the American experience, in a way that nothing we read in the classroom does. His writing style is difficult to adjust to at first because of the style of narration, as he uses a stream of consciousness technique to tell his stories. But after I got used to it, I realized it was a very valuable perspective. I read Invisible Man, Juneteenth, and the short story collection Flying Home and Other Stories. These three works centered around the same core themes, while each bringing a different dimension of Ellison's message. This connection lent itself well to the synthesis that is the Author Thesis paper. All in all, I strongly recommend Ralph Ellison if you are looking for an indelible experience that teaches you something about yourself and your world. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
