Mary Oliver writes poetry about nature. Her poetry describes nature’s beauty and the importance of life. I recommend Mary Oliver for people who enjoy uplifting, optimistic poetry. Oliver writes with strong personal and religious views and her immense appreciation for nature is apparent. Her writing style is lyrical and she writes about her experiences in nature on Cape Cod. Her style could be compared to a modern romantic and she gives her readers a more positive outlook on life. She has won many awards for outstanding literature and after reading her poetry it is obvious why. Her wisdom is displayed through her words and it is interesting to read about another person’s views on nature and the miracle and wonder of the world we live in.
Now that you have written your essay, we ask that you reflect on the reading portion of the experience and write 100-150 words about your author.
Think of what you write as advice for someone next year and beyond, someone who (like you were doing last fall) is thinking about choosing your author - and maybe even the same three books - to read for the assignment.
