Richard Wright talks mainly about his own experiances growing up in an urban enironment. Violent and graphic scenes fill the pages,so if you enjoy some violence and some action, then you should read some of Wright's books. Wright touches on some big issues that effect many Americans today. A big issue in many of Wright's novels in raceism. Recently, in the presesdential election, the issue of race proved to be a big issue since one of the candidates is African American. Wright gives a great perspective of what growing up as a minority in a prejudice society can be like. There are many different variations of Wright's works. He wrote many great novels such as Black Boy, his autobiography, and Native Son. Healso wrote some shorter novels targeted for a younger audiance and many poems and haikus. I would highly reccomend choosing Richard Wright as your author because his books have great messages and they are very enjoyable to read.

Reading Richard Wright's novels was definitely enjoyable, his most famous novel A Native Son, is probably one of the most interesting books that I have ever read. If you choose Richard Wright I would recommend that you read A Native Son and The Long Dream. However, I also recommend that you do not choose to read A Father's Law because it doesn't really connect with his other books which made the writing pretty difficult. Finding quotes was not difficult, neither was constructing a theme, but connecting all the books together was pretty hard. Overall, if you are looking for enjoyable, intense, but somewhat graphic reading and a little bit of challenge when writing, Richard Wright is your guy.

Throughout the year I enjoyed Richard Wright and his books. The three that I picked were Native Son, Black Boy and The Long Dream. I found it quite easy to connect all three of the books. It was also easy to find a common theme throughout the books. His books can get quite intense with racism and language ect. Just something to think about because some people may be offended by this. I would highly recommend choosing Richard Wright for your author thesis author because of his sotmg topics throughout his books.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Richard Wright's books. The three books that I chose to read were Native Son, Uncle Tom's Children, and Eight Men. Native Son was a very interesting book that was completely different from the books I have read in the past. Native Son was also my favorite book that I read of the three. Uncle Tom's Children and Eight Men were both collections of short stories that had complex and elaborate stories. Wright's books were definitely intense and thought provoking, making it hard to read at times. Finding quotes and analyzing them was not too difficult, but finding a overall theme for all three books and connecting them was challenging. All in all, if you are looking for an interesting and memorable read, I would highly recommend Richard Wright for you author's thesis.

American Author Thesis

Now that you have written your essay, we ask that you reflect on the reading portion of the experience and write 100-150 words about your author.

Think of what you write as advice for someone next year and beyond, someone who (like you were doing last fall) is thinking about choosing your author - and maybe even the same three books - to read for the assignment.
