I enjoyed reading Michael Chabon's works because he is a really funny guy. I usually don’t like to read books, but Chabon’s books are special because they make you wanna read more. Chabon describes everything situation and person really well. I read The Yiddish Policemen’s Union, Wonder Boys, and The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. My favorite book out all of these 3 was The Yiddish Policemen’s Union because it is a really funny book and conveys a really good message. However, it is difficult to understand what Chabon is saying sometimes because he uses a lot of complex words to describe everything. I warn you that if you want to read Chabon’s books you have to put it a lot of effort to understand what he is saying. His books take time to read, but in the end it’s worth it because he is a great author. Also, I think that you should not read The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay because because it’s a really long book and it advances really slow.

Michael Chabon's books were very enjoyable to me, since he creates a nice balance between writing humor and conveying important messages to the reader. I had originally chosen Chabon for his fantasy book, Summerland, but after reading his realistic fiction books, I came to love his works in that genre better than the one I had originally chosen him for. His writing style has a unique voice that gets the reader intrigued in his books and makes you want to keep reading. Although his books have a lot of characters, many are very fleshed out and possible to analyze deeply. I chose to read the books The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, Summerland, and The Yiddish Policemen's Union. My favorite was the Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, because the story had a lot of character development, and all the characters had very interesting distinct personalities. The story plot was also very interesting, even though it was a bit slow. This novel was sort of long, but it was still a lot of fun to read. I also thought that the three books had some pretty clear connections. I would definitely recommend Michael Chabon, especially if you need some humor to make a book interesting.

American Author Thesis

Now that you have written your essay, we ask that you reflect on the reading portion of the experience and write 100-150 words about your author.

Think of what you write as advice for someone next year and beyond, someone who (like you were doing last fall) is thinking about choosing your author - and maybe even the same three books - to read for the assignment.
