I chose Therese Fowler as my author for Author Thesis, because I wanted an author that wrote stories that were similar to F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. However, I didn’t find any of her stories as intriguing as I did for The Great Gatsby. I read Z: a novel of Zelda Fitzgerald, Souvenir and Reunion. With each book, I got tired with immediately. Each book was easy to wander off into space with. Since most of the time it was the speaker’s thoughts, which did not become helpful at all. When it came to writing the paper, I had to find how these all connected. The relations that I could find were: relationships, regret and sacrifice. And in my opinion, I found it very hard to come up with a claim that supports those. Overall, I do not recommend Therese Fowler for Author Thesis. But on your hunt for an author, I would recommend choosing an author that touches on many big topics(racism, feminism, gender roles, etc.), so as you read you can spot those themes easily. Then when it comes time to write the paper, you’ll have a variety of topics that you can include in your paper.

American Author Thesis

Now that you have written your essay, we ask that you reflect on the reading portion of the experience and write 100-150 words about your author.

Think of what you write as advice for someone next year and beyond, someone who (like you were doing last fall) is thinking about choosing your author - and maybe even the same three books - to read for the assignment.
